What this means

ChatGPT named 13 different clinics across the five asks, and only Welbeck Skin Health & Allergy was named every time. The London Dermatology Centre was the top pick in three answers, and twice ChatGPT quoted its Doctify score. sk:n and three private hospitals that offer dermatology, The Wellington, Cromwell and King Edward VII's, never came up.

Where the named brands show up

ChatGPT repeated figures that are published on Doctify and the CQC site. In two answers it gave Doctify scores that match the clinics' Doctify pages: 4.9 from 230 reviews for The London Dermatology Centre and 4.99 from 121 for Dr Sam Bunting. It also said The Harley Street Dermatology Clinic was rated Good by the CQC in September 2025. Its CQC page shows a Good rating from a site visit on 30 September 2025.

Welbeck, the only clinic named in all five answers, shows up near the top of Doctify's London lists. On the first page of Doctify's list of London dermatologists, 5 of the 10 specialists are listed at 1 Welbeck Street, the clinic's address. On Doctify's list of London dermatology clinics, Welbeck is third with 1,622 reviews, but that listing covers all 22 of Welbeck's specialties. Doctify's page for its skin clinic, OneWelbeck Skin Health & Allergy, has 119 reviews.

Not every name has Doctify reviews. We found Doctify practice pages for 12 of the 13 clinics ChatGPT named, and 4 of those pages show no reviews. Two of the 4 are City Dermatology Clinic, named in 4 answers, and Cadogan Clinic, ChatGPT's top pick once. Cadogan Clinic has 4.8 from 1,658 reviews on Trustpilot, and City Dermatology Clinic shows Google reviews on its own homepage.

Three of the four clinics ChatGPT named most have a homepage headline about private dermatologists in London, with a review score on the same page. City Dermatology Clinic shows 4.9 stars from 1,484 reviews with a Google logo, Dr Haus Dermatology shows 4.8 from 410 reviews with a link to its Google reviews, and The London Dermatology Centre shows a rating marked 'Verified by Doctify'. ChatGPT showed review scores or map ratings in 4 of its 5 answers.

Round-ups don't line up with ChatGPT's answers. Of 8 round-ups and guides to London dermatologists or skin clinics that we opened, the closest was Hello! magazine's 2024 top 10, with 6 of the 13 clinics ChatGPT named. Welbeck, City Dermatology Clinic, The London Dermatology Centre and Dr Haus, the four ChatGPT named most, were each in only one of the 8. One list came from a clinic, Dermasurge, which marked its own founder 'Our pick'.

Not named? Here's what was missing

King Edward VII's Hospital and Cromwell Hospital are in the top 10 of Doctify's list of London dermatology clinics, with 5,327 and 2,102 reviews, but their Doctify pages cover 27 and 18 specialties. sk:n's 9,935 Trustpilot reviews are on one page for all its clinics. That alone doesn't explain it, though: Welbeck's listing on the same Doctify list covers 22 specialties, and ChatGPT named Cleveland Clinic London, a hospital, in 2 answers.
